Society of Cannabis Clinicians Launches Mobile Education Courses on Canna-Ed by Learner Mobile’s Leading Learning Management System
14 Courses Now Available in Support of Ongoing Learning & Training Solution for Physicians & Clinicians, with Eight Additional Courses to be Added in Coming Months
DALLAS, TX, March 22, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ – The Society of Cannabis Clinicians (SCC), a non-profit organization of medical and health professionals dedicated to education and research for the medical use of cannabis, today announced that the first phase of its mobile education courses has launched on its website through Canna-Ed by Learner Mobile’s innovative learning management platform.
The new courses through the SCC OnDemand portal deliver evidence-based educational content to clinicians, professionals, and patients around the world — authored by top experts with decades of hands-on experience in the field. Fourteen courses — covering topics ranging from treatment options for diseases and conditions, dosage and delivery, lab analysis and drug interactions — were launched in recent weeks, with eight additional courses to be added through April. Courses can be viewed here: SCC OnDemand.
To further expand its education initiatives, the SCC is also launching a new online series, “Canna Talk with Frye and Wilson-King” on March 25, 2021, to share more information about the clinical evidence covered in the SCC’s Clinical Training Curriculum.
The timing of the SCC OnDemand course and online webinar series launch is important as increased medical use of cannabis means more patients will be seeking credible information from providers. A recent study conducted by SCC found that 56% of clinicians felt that there was adequate information available to ethically practice cannabis medicine; however, a 2018 study in Vermont found that only 18% of patients reported that their provider was a good information source about medical cannabis. SCC OnDemand will play a key role in closing that gap.
“As the medical use of cannabis grows in acceptance and practice, medical and health professionals need on-demand, real-time access to knowledge and training in order to treat patients safely and effectively,” said Dr. Genester Wilson-King, the SCC’s Vice-President. “As a long-time source of credible research and education resources, SCC wanted to make these resources as widely available and as easily accessible as possible. We chose Canna-Ed as our learning partner because it has reimagined the remote education experience for modern learners, whether on smartphones or desktops, who want compelling and informative content that is consumable, convenient and engaging.”
While SCC has provided a broad range of education and training resources in the past, SCC OnDemand serves as a centralized online and on-demand resource offering various forms of courses, certifications, micro-learnings and more to meet the cannabis information and education needs of clinicians and patients.
Canna-Ed, which helps organizations strengthen education and learning across the broader cannabis sector, is powered by the award-winning Learner Mobile platform that is utilized by leading retail, healthcare and higher education brands. It provides learning content in more consumable, engaging formats and utilizes AI to present relevant content to users based on their profile, interests and activity. It also allows users to interact with content and each other and provides detailed analytics on usage, engagement and effectiveness.
“The way people want and expect to learn has changed – just as the way they access content through streaming and mobile devices has changed personal entertainment,” said Mike Thompson, CEO of Canna-Ed and SVI, the parent company of Learner Mobile. “Canna-Ed was built for modern learners by providing convenient access, an easy-to-use format, and compelling content. We are proud that Canna-Ed can support the mission of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, which is dedicated to knowledge sharing so that the medical benefits of cannabis can help as many people as possible.”
SCC is making the courses available to members at a 20% discount. Non-members can purchase courses individually or as part of a discounted bundle.
The first “Canna Talk” on March 25th will explore Cannabis, Women’s Health, Pregnancy, and Breastfeeding. These educational webinars will occur on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9am PST/12pm EST and are free for all to attend. The curriculum co-directors, Patricia Frye, MD and Genester Wilson-King, MD, will host informal conversations with expert guests and will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics they presented in their modules.
